How it works

A short tour of the FixBeforeBuy journey from finding your device to accessing a full repair manual.

Last updated 18 August 2026

1. Find your device

Start from search, or browse categories, brands, and models. Use the model number on the equipment whenever you can. Close matches still help, but the printed model is the most reliable starting point.

2. Open the model page

The model page is the hub. From there you can move into related symptoms, error codes, failure modes, and manuals that belong to that model.

3. Match the symptom, error code, or failure

If the device shows a code, look it up. If it behaves badly without a code, start from the symptom. Failure-mode pages describe a specific way the equipment can break. These pages exist to narrow the problem before you open a full manual.

4. Preview the repair manual

Manual pages include public preview content such as an overview, preview pages, and related troubleshooting links. The complete procedure, diagrams, parts lists, and verification steps are part of the full manual where that product is offered.

5. Buy only if you need the full guide

If a full manual is available, checkout asks for an email address and sends you to Stripe to pay. After payment you can view the manual online and download the PDF when a file has been published. Keep the same email; that is how purchase recovery works. There is no public username/password account for customers.

  • My Purchases

Recover access with the checkout email if you lost the original link.

6. Repair carefully

Follow the manual, the manufacturer’s safety instructions, and common-sense precautions. Unplug equipment, use the right tools, and stop if a step is beyond your skill. Repair information on this site is educational; it does not certify that a repair is safe in your situation.

What this site does not do today

  • It does not offer live technician chat or on-site service.
  • It does not require a public customer login to browse.
  • Optional AI-assisted repair tools are not part of the current repair journey.
  • A marketplace catalog may be available separately and is not part of the main site navigation today.
