• Selector is not pushed fully to the intended side
• External cap moves but does not actuate the internal switch
• Direction-switch contacts are worn or burned
• Wiring, trigger, brush, or motor connection fails in one polarity path

1. Forward and reverse match the selected arrows, or the electrical direction path is conclusively routed to service.

1. Compare actual chuck rotation with the molded direction arrows and repeat once only if the first selection was incomplete.
2. If one direction is absent or reversed with sound selector detents, remove the battery and route the direction switch or wiring to service.
3. Remove the bit, support the tool, and confirm the selector moves fully to each side with the trigger released.
4. Install a verified battery and make one brief empty-chuck test in forward, then stop completely before selecting reverse.
