Symptoms

The battery latches normally and works while still, but charging or tool power stops, restarts, or flickers when the pack or receiver is gently moved.
The battery shows a credible high charge or has just completed a proven charge, remains fully latched and still gives no response in a known-good compatible tool while stationary.
The motor can be heard, but the front output remains still in both directions with the bit removed.
The trigger returns normally and power drops, but the anvil repeatedly coasts instead of stopping promptly.
The cool dry pack has a visibly cracked, missing, loose or distorted rail, release button, latch feature or molded support, whether or not insertion has been attempted.
A room-temperature battery seated in a proven compatible ventilated charger becomes markedly hotter than a known-good comparable battery during a normal stationary charge, without smoke, swelling or melting.
Battery loses charge rapidly while stored disconnected
BATTERY SEATS BUT WILL NOT STAY LATCHED
The battery is cool and dry but the outer shell is cracked, split, punctured, missing a piece, or open at a seam, with no smoke, liquid, swelling, odor or dangerous heat.
WORKLIGHT COMES ON, BUT THE MOTOR WILL NOT START
Tool rotates, but a seated fastener gets little torque or no normal impact pulse.
The direction lever will not reach forward, reverse, or center lock, or the selected position does not hold.
The battery reaches the normal seated position, but the release latch does not retain it and the pack can slide away without pressing the release button.
With the battery removed from every tool and charger, the charge-status button cannot be pressed normally, remains depressed or has broken away.
After a normal full charge, the battery loses a large amount of indicated charge or usable low-load runtime while stored by itself in a cool, dry place.
A known-good compatible charger begins its normal charging cycle, but the cycle repeatedly stops, restarts, faults, or continues abnormally without reaching completion.
The drive operates normally, but the work light stays dark, flickers, or cuts in and out with trigger use.
One or more green charge-status segments stay on, stay missing, or report an implausible level even though the battery charges and delivers normal low-load runtime.
A compatible charger continues to report its temperature-delay state after the battery has stabilized at room temperature and the charger works normally with another compatible battery.
The GBA18V40 starts onto the receiver rails but binds before reaching the normal seated and latched position.
