Diagnostic overview
Cutting performance issues where the blade turns but the saw feeds poorly, stalls, burns wood, or splinters excessively during normal cuts. Immediate stop use is advised to prevent damage or injury.
Likely Root Causes
- Blade is dull, damaged, dirty, or wrong for wood
- Cut depth is excessive
- Kerf closes because the work is unsupported
- Depth or bevel lock is loose
- Saw is forced before full speed or against the cut line
Quick Checks
- The saw advances smoothly through supported wood with a clean kerf, normal motor sound, and no burning, stall, or excessive splintering.
Repair Preview
- Set depth so about one tooth projects below the work, lock depth and bevel, and support and clamp the work so the kerf cannot close on the blade.
- Let the blade reach full speed, keep the shoe flat, and guide with gentle pressure on scrap; persistent overload or poor cutting routes to FM-05 or FM-07.
- Release the trigger, hold the saw still until the blade stops, remove it from the cut only after the stop, and remove the battery.
- Fit a clean sharp wood-cutting blade of the correct diameter, bore, and speed rating; remove sap buildup and reject damaged or abrasive wheels.
