- Hex recess or wrench is rounded
- Bolt, washer, or spindle threads are dirty or damaged
- Spindle lock mechanism is broken

- The spindle lock engages only while stopped, the bolt turns in the correct direction, and the blade clamps securely.

- Clean the bolt, washer, and accessible spindle seating dry and inspect for cross-threading, cracks, burrs, or incorrect hardware.
- If the lock will not engage or the bolt is seized, stripped, or damaged, do not improvise leverage; have the spindle and hardware serviced.
- Remove the battery, use the supplied hex wrench, and press the spindle lock while rotating the blade by hand until the lock fully engages.
- Remember the left-hand thread: turn the blade bolt clockwise to loosen and counterclockwise to tighten; stop if the wrench or recess begins to round.
