Speed dial will not turn through its range

With power removed, the speed dial binds or cannot travel through its marked range.

• Packed dust around the dial
• Impact damage to dial or top cover
• Dial is pinched by housing distortion
• Internal speed-control mechanism fault

1. The dial moves smoothly through the complete range.

1. Remove the battery and dry-brush the gap around the speed dial.
2. - Turn the dial gently through its range
3. Inspect the top cover for impact distortion that contacts the dial.
4. If free travel is not restored, keep the tool out of service for control repair.
